he 1940s, in contrast to the 30s, changed the focus from the lips to the eyes. While the lips remained in focus throughout the three decades, the eyes were changed up quite a bit. 
The eyes were the focus of the wartime makeup. The 1940s brow was still carefully plucked and matte eye shadow was used to highlight the crease. Mascara was quite common and a must have, however fake lashes took center stage when it came to enhancing and creating an appearance of heavy, big eyes. Red lipstick was still very popular as it remained throughout the decades, thorugh other colours such as pink and orange-red were also popular. 
For a modern twist, adopt a more modern hairstyle as well as heavy eyeliner for the appearance of bigger eyes and heavy lashes.
