ell heres a first. My first time trying a drugstore brand gel eyeliner. My local drugstore had a 40% sale and as they were out of my regular Maybelline Hyperglossy Liquid Eyeliner, I thought I'd give the Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner a try. It's pretty hyped up, plus Maybelline is my go to drugstore brand, so I thought i'd give it a try and here are my in depth opinions concerning it.

Each liner comes with its own brush. It's not a typical, thin eyeliner brush though; it is small, flat and rounded at the end.

The gel liner is advertised as being smudgeproof and waterproof, which are pretty considerable claims to make when it comes to a gel liner, so, I thought id put it to the test.
I first applied a thin line of the gel liner on my hand and allowed it to set, after which I placed it under running water to see how it reacts.
The results for this test were pretty astounding I do have to admit. The Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner did not budge. It remained intact in contact to water. So hey if you're planning to go to a pool party then this product may be the perfect one for you!
The next test was to challenge its smudgeproof qualities, and as you can probably already tell, this test wasn't quite as successful as the previous. The liner did smudge, however not too badly. It did not hold up as well as i'd like my liners to though, as I have oily eyelids and its a pretty important quality that I look for in my eyeliners. It definitely smudges on my lids, however I have in fact found a way to prevent the smudging, and you can read all about it here.
The Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner has a prefect consistency for a gel liner. It is creamy and allows for easy application. The brush is also find quite useful as it helps me achieve the cat-eye that I adore so much.
Above you can see the liner holding up pretty amazingly after 9 hours of wear with the help of the trick that I use to help it stay. Overall I do believe the Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner is a pretty impressive gel liner for the drugstore market. The only cons I can point out about the product, are its proneness to smudging and the fact that the colour is not as black as i'd like it to be. "Blackest Black" is definitely not as black as you'd expect it to be, and as black as i've come to expect my eyeliner to be after years and years of used liquid liners, however it is black enough for me to be pleased with its appearance. I do use this liner on a daily basis now, and from a girl that likes her eyeliner impeccable and sharp, I think that says something. If you want to try out a gel liner but don't want to pay the hefty pricetags that come with a higher end gel liner I would definitely recommend the Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner
Have you tried it? What do you think of it?
